“I Belong With My Sister”
Middle School Photography
I belong with my sister. However, I didn't always feel this way. She stole the attention, which was mine. But, eventually I saw what everyone else did. She is loving, funny, kind and lights up everyone's day, including my own. She is the best thing in the world, and I will take care of her forever.

“Untitled”
Middle School Photography
This picture relates to the theme because it is showing a picture of a puzzle that is missing one piece. There is a hand placing in the missing piece, showing that it belongs there, and the puzzle is complete with it there.

“Melting”
Middle School Visual Arts
I belong even when I am melting and my arms fall off. The children still enjoy playing with me, even though I am not perfect.
Allieczandria Suarez
7th Grade, Las Colinas
“Windows”
Middle School Visual Arts
The windows represent people's apartment windows and how they all have different lives but live under the same building, which connects them.

“The Beauty of Belonging”
Middle School Visual Arts
My artwork shows two different peoples hands. The hands are drawn so they can be any two peoples' hands. This picture shows that everyone and anyone belongs, no matter what you look like or act like. This artwork could help people who do not think they belong realize they do.

“Even Though I’m Different, I Still “Belong”
Middle School Visual Arts
This is for anyone who has ever felt different. Being different can be the reason you stand out. In this art piece, I am showing a lot of trees that are similar to each other with a different looking tree placed in the middle and holding a sign that says "Even though I'm different, I still belong." This shows that even though the un-ordinary sapling stands out, it will still always be a tree.

“I Belong, You Belong, We All Belong”
Middle School Visual Arts
Our family and friends are all a little different, and that's what makes them so dear to us. We all belong together. Just like how different pieces of a puzzle fit together to make one huge picture, and our differences help us improve from each other. So let’s remember, I belong, you belong, everybody belongs!

“Pluto Belongs”
Middle School Visual Arts
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Just like that, one day Pluto lost its title of planet and became a dwarf planet. So what? Pluto still belongs to our Solar system and in our hearts!
Faith Manders

“Reasons Why”
Middle School Music Composition
My song is about how the people around me help me feel like I belong, and that I'm grateful for them!

“A Found Place”
Middle School Music Composition
I wrote this song because I felt that the way the notes were arranged and written reflected the theme “I Belong”. At the beginning of the song, only the right hand is playing, making it feel isolated. Then when the left hand comes to join, it’s resembling a friend coming up to you. The music progressively starts to build up as more people join. The scale in the song shows the surge of realization has come over you that you’re not alone. When the music slows down an additional roll of notes at the end symbolizes the smile.

“Finding Happiness”
Middle School Dance Choreography
My art relates to the theme of belonging because the song Opalite is about finding your happiness and being where you belong. We create our own space where we fit in, make our own joy and design our lives to be the way we want them to be.

“The Stranger in This Life?”
Middle School Literature
This is a story on my time in the Philippines and the weeks after the trip. I try finding a belonging in this world as I felt different from others.

“Untitled
Middle School Literature
My work relates to the theme because it is about a girl that moves and feels that she has no place, but meets one girl, and really starts to believe that she is at home here. She finally feel like she belongs.

“Petals in the Tide”
Middle School Literature
Petals in the Tide is a poem about belonging. It uses symbolism that even being different does not mean you don't have to change to fit in. You belong!

“Belonging”
Middle School Literature
I chose to write about this topic because many people do not know the point of belonging. My essay explains why it is important and what benefits come with belonging. What I hope for is that people find this useful and can use it as help if they need it.
Harper Burriss-Tse

“You Belong”
Middle School Literature
I wrote a free verse poem about our journey into belonging. My poem brings awareness to how powerful our past emotions and experiences are in shaping who we are. I decided to write this poem, because it's vital in this society that we understand how to notice our memories' effect on us, and how to use them to our advantage.

“People Pleaser”
Middle School Literature
This story fits the "I Belong" theme because it shows the struggle of trying to belong with others instead of within yourself. The character shows development by learning that true belonging doesn't come from pleasing people or being needed. It comes from being accepted for who you are. Through all the pain, loneliness, and self-discovery, they realize that belonging comes from real connections and self-worth, not constant sacrifice.

“Found at Last”
Middle School Literature
My work relates to the theme, "I Belong,' by focusing on the journey from loneliness to finding a welcoming community of people who have shaped me into the person I am today. I created this work to show the feeling of isolation and the long-awaited relief that comes when finally finding your people.
Congratulations to all our Participants!
